A technological breakthrough or Orwellian police state? Passengers entering Helsinki’s airport will have their cell phones data mined so airport administrators will be able to determine each passenger’s precise location anywhere in the airport in real time. In return, passengers will have the advantage (or disadvantage) of receiving targeted area specific advertising and discount offers based on their proximity to various airport retailers, also in real time.
