State to Restore Work Requirement for Food Stamp Eligibility

Beginning in October, the State of New Mexico intends to restore a 20 hour per week work requirement aimed at childless able-bodied adults receiving food stamps. Qualifying recipients will need to work at least 20 hours per week to continue to be eligible for the state’s food stamp program. On the job training and volunteer work will also count toward the 20 hour per week total. See the full story in the Santa Fe New Mexican.
